Happy New Year everyone! 🎉🙌🍾 Despite all the crazy shit happening in the world, I had a great 2015 moving to California from France with my wife. I hope 2016 will be even better and I hope 2016 will be great for all of you! I decided to force myself to publish a picture every day in 2016. I am often frustrated that I'm not sharing enough of my pictures with the world, so I'm doing this to force myself. Hopefully, I should be able to commit to it. I just have to select 366 of my pictures, piece of cake, right? Let's start with the first one. A sunset taken in Santa Monica one month ago. It was a beautiful sunset with the iconic lifeguard towers! Really enjoyed my time there.

Shot at the McWay falls in Big Sur. I couldn't get a clean shot so this picture is a composition of 2 pictures. If you have good eyes you can probably spot the stitching issue I got on the fence.

There's something very calming about a long exposure shot of the sea like this. Captured in El Matador State Beach next to Malibu when we went to Los Angeles a month ago.

The Getty Villa is one of the most amazing place I visited in California. Make sure you go as early as possible so you can get clean shots of this amazing place. Sadly because of the drought the fountains were all turned off. Still a beautiful place.

This was taken at the end of November when I was visiting Los Angeles. I definitely love how sunny California is. This was just near Muscle Beach and Venice Beach. Loved walking around.

I'll never be tired of all the sunset pictures I have of Santa Monica.

Now for something completely different. This is a picture of the Milky Way I shot in France. This is the only shareable picture I have. Getting the opportunity to make these kind of shots does not happen as much as I'd like but you gotta love the view!

This picture was shot before I moved in the Bay Area at the Windy Hill Open Space Reserve. It's a great area if you want to see the sun set over an endless view of hills. While this was not the deciding factor, this view clearly was a pro for moving here 😁⛰

It's not always sunny in California but, heh, I like the mood of this picture shot at Pier 45 in San Francisco. What you don't get here is the smell of fish, that added a lot to the scenery!

I really like this kind of retro american feeling. Shot at the Franciscan Crab Restaurant in SF. I've been told the 🦀 was nice.

I really loved the week-end we did in Los Angeles. We ended it on Venice Beach in Santa Monica. This picture of the Pacific Park is the last picture I took of our weekend there. After that we went for a tough 6 hours drive back home to the Bay Area.

Another long exposure shot captured in El Matador State Beach next to Malibu. I (and probably my wife) remember being very frustrated that I wasn't able to frame a shot with a nice composition but after looking at some of the pictures, I'm pretty happy. Especially as it was my first time doing this kind of pictures.

McWay falls at dusk in Big Sur. One of the shot I most proud of. This is a pano of 4 long exposure shots. If you go back in my stream you can find a sunset version of it. I feel lucky to have been able to go there. I'm far from what the talented Serge Ramelli does (check out his tutorials at photoserge.com) but I'm improving everyday thanks to him!

Visited Sacramento back in October. It was cool to visit the California State Capitol Museum and take a selfie with the painting of Schwarzenegger.

Another shot from inside the quarries under Paris. Visiting the quarry is not as easy as visiting the Catacombes but it's worth it. Our guide was great, funny and told us a lot about Ancient Paris.

A Pelican during our hike near Santa Cruz. We saw a lot of them flying near us along the trail, this the best I could do with my camera, I'm happy with it but I clearly don't have the gear to master this kind of photography.

I was in Canada for the end of the year. The goal was to experience a real winter season with snow and hot coffee. It was great!

I'm sure you've all seen the new Star Wars by now. I've seen it twice and I loved it! So naturally, I enjoyed this Christmas decorations in a store in Québec City.

Québec is such a great city to visit in December. I can't recommend it enough.

Was lucky to go to Mexico in January. This shot is from Chichén Itzá archeological site.

One thing I wanted to do as soon as I knew we were going to Mexico was to visit a Cenote. They're known to be very busy with a lot of tourists but we found this one at the Yokdzonot Cenote & Ecological Park and we were nearly the only people there. That was an amazing experience.

I was lucky to stay at the Hyatt Ziva hotel in Cancún for a couple of days. They have this nice little lighthouse that was looking great during sunrise.

✨💫🌠 If you're not aware, Thursday night was the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. I went to Mt Hamilton from midnight to 5am. Friday was tough..This is my first meteor shower ever and my first astrophotography shots in a looooooong time!

We went for the first time to Yosemite last June and it was breathtaking! I want to share so much pictures of it... I think the month of September will be filled with Yosemite goodness. If you've been there already, I hope you'll enjoy and remember how magical this place is. If you've never been there, I hope it will convince you that this place should be on your list of things to see in your lifetime. Enjoy!

Welcome to Las Vegas! We visited downtown Las Vegas before heading out to Zion. Loved the atmosphere there!

Welcome to Zion! Where the mountains are majestic and your breath is taken away. This panorama was shot while hiking Angel's Landing. One of the best hike I ever did.

What a relief when you arrive at the top of Angel's Landing. The fear disappear in an instant and you can take a deep breath, relax, and just enjoy the view.

Welcome to Bryce Canyon National Park! I'll share a bunch of pictures from this amazing place for the next 2 weeks. It's a beautiful place and those Hoodoos are 💯 👊.

Wall Street in the Navajo Loop trail is one of those place where you see Nature at work. You would think inside a narrow canyon would prevent trees to grow and you would be wrong!

I have so many panorama of Bryce! I know Instagram is not the best for those but I can't help but share some of them. It's not as good as seeing this for real, though.

Just after sunset from Sunrise point in Bryce Canyon. At this point we were the last one to enjoy it, probably because it was freezing!

You wake up at 5am and you did not have enough sleep. You're wondering if it's worth it. It's cold and you're grumpy. But then the sunrise and you experience THIS. And everything disappear, you just enjoy the view with a big smile on your face. Of course, it was worth it. Bryce is an incredible place and the sunrise are worth everything 😍.

I had to cheat on this one and erase some people to get a clean shot of this tree 🌲. Wall Street in the Navajo loop trail is a busy place but you just have to look up and you can forget about everyone else.

Welcome to wonderful Lower Antelope Canyon!

Antelope was one of those places where I did not expect much as I had heard how crowded it was. In the end, as you keep looking up, you forget the people around you and just enjoy the view!

This is going up even though it feels like waves coming from the side! Loved walking in Lower Antelope..⠀.⠀.⠀.⠀.⠀

Photographing inside Lower Antelope Canyon was a challenge as tripod are forbidden unless you go on the Photography tour. I rented a lens with stabilization as light is low in there. Very happy with the result even though I learned a lot of things I should improve to do HDR photos.

Horseshoe Bend was on my to-do list for a long time and let me tell you, oh boy, I was not disappointed! We went there for sunset and it was just amazing! Check out the boat to get a sense of scale 🛥.

One last shot from Antelope Canyon. I love the natural frame on it and those curves are 💯.

Horseshoe Bend after sunset was just magical. The crowd left after the sun was gone and we had the (nearly) whole place for ourselves. We waited for the sun to reflect on the cloud and I got this great shot. This shot is one of my latest favorite shot 📸. It's extracted from a panorama of 15 shots (for both HDR and panorama). Sure, this shot has been taken several time but there's nothing like seeing it for yourself and take it all in. No pictures can compare to seeing it in person. I'm glad I went there. I recommend you go too 👊!

Monument Valley is just an incredible place that came out of nowhere as we were driving and crossing the Arizona/Utah border.

I know that's a cliché shot for Monument Valley. I still like it 😬.

Nature is full of wonder, it's incredible to think that millions of years shaped those Monuments.

We didn't went horse riding while in Monument Valley even though the setup was perfect for it 🐴.

The final part of our trip in October. The majestic Grand Canyon at sunrise from Pima Point! We enjoyed this sunset as we were the only one crazy enough to come this early to enjoy it. Nothing like getting a place like this only for yourself 👌.

The first ray of ☀️ start hitting the Canyon. It's impossible to get a sense of the scale on pictures. This place is beyond words.

It took million of years to shape this iconic landscape. Again, the scale here is just mind-boggling.

Shot from an 🚁. It was the first time for me and I LOVED it. For sure, will look into doing this more on my following trips. Gives you a total different perspective of the Grand Canyon. What does not change is the feeling of being small in the middle of this gigantic place!

I liked this Grand Canyon shot from Desert View as it's one of the best place to see the Colorado river easily.

Another 🚁 shot. Can you believe this river is the cause of this gigantic canyon? There's people rafting down there. No way you can spot them from this high (and it gives you an idea of how big the river is!).

I DID IT! 🎉🎊🍾I posted a picture every day for the past year and, oh man, it was hard. It forced me to post pictures I wasn't 100% happy with. It also pushed my creativity and my motivation. I'm so happy I did it, even if I'm also relieved it's done! I will not go for another year but I'm hoping to keep posting frequently. 2016 was overall a shitty year for Humanity, I'm glad it's over and plan to celebrate accordingly tonight with my beautiful wife! Enjoy the last day of the year!
